Revolutionizing Livestock Farming: Bolaca’s Sustainable Approach to Meat Production

In Türkiye, the beef industry has long been reliant on imports—whether by fattening imported cattle or bringing in carcass meat directly. This dependency has raised costs and posed challenges to achieving a sustainable, self-reliant livestock system. Bolaca decided it was time to lead the way toward change. By establishing one of the country’s first dedicated breeding farms for meat-specific cattle breeds, we’re reshaping the future of beef production. Our farm is home to renowned meat breeds such as Angus, Charolais, and Limousin, known globally for their efficiency in meat production and high-quality beef. Unlike traditional operations, Bolaca’s farm doesn’t focus on milk production. Instead, we’ve embraced a sustainable, natural model: the calves are raised on their mothers’ milk, ensuring they receive the nutrition they need to thrive. As meat breeds naturally produce just enough milk for their calves, this system eliminates overproduction and waste, aligning with our commitment to sustainability. This approach isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about respecting the natural processes of these exceptional breeds. By providing a stress-free environment where calves can grow naturally, we ensure better animal welfare and healthier, premium-quality beef. With a focus on breeding and raising Angus, Charolais, and Limousin, Bolaca is reducing Türkiye’s reliance on imported beef and carcass meat. These breeds are carefully selected for their adaptability, growth rates, and superior meat quality, allowing us to deliver a reliable and sustainable supply of locally-produced beef. Bolaca’s farm represents a step toward a more self-sufficient and sustainable future for Türkiye’s livestock industry. By focusing on meat-specific breeds and prioritizing animal welfare, we’re not just producing better beef—we’re cultivating a model that benefits the environment, the economy, and the well-being of the animals. At Bolaca, we’re proving that sustainable farming isn’t just possible—it’s the way forward. With every calf raised and every breed introduced, we’re building a future where Türkiye can thrive on its own natural resources, one sustainable step at a time.
